You will take a taxi from Dehradun Railway Station to Sankri Village on the first day of your Maldaru Lake Trek. Sankri is roughly 210 km from the train station and sits at an elevation of 1920 m. Eight or nine hours will pass before you reach Sankri Village.
You will undoubtedly begin to enjoy your trip right away because the route to Sankri is so picturesque. You will pass through woods, peaceful mountains surrounded by clean air, dhabas, little traditional villages like Mussorie, Damta, Newman, Purola, Nainbagh, Mori, and many more. On your way to Sankri, the splendour of the natural world will undoubtedly enchant you.
Parts of Sankri Village are located in Uttarakashi’s Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. You will also find tiny marketplaces there. Truly, apple orchards have the power to capture the attention of any traveler. There is greenery everywhere, which always helps you feel in touch with nature and invigorated.
You will arrive in Sankri soon, check into a hotel, and spend the night there.
On the following day, you will go by car to Taluka. You will trek to Dhamtir Village/Dharkot Camp that same day. You will travel 11 km to get at the camp in four to five hours.
After eating breakfast in Taluka, you will depart. Along the way, you’ll come across a diverse range of animals and thick forests full of pine trees. The voyage can seem a little difficult to you, but with a little self-assurance, you can get through it quickly. You will fall in love with the area and your walk because of its overall beauty. All one needs to unwind is a peaceful setting with lots of greenery and occasional bird singing. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the Monal, Uttarakhand’s state bird.
You will stay after arriving at your destination and erect your tents.
You will proceed to Vishkhopri on your third day, which is 7 km distant and will take 4-5 hours. Dharkot village, which is most likely the last settlement on your trip, is the route you will use to get to Vishkhopri. There are a ton of Deodar trees in the verdant meadow of Vishkhopri. What a lovely spot to unwind. Along with trees, wildlife, birds, woods, and meadows, your trip will also take you past snow-capped mountains.
It won’t take you long to arrive at Vishkhopri’s base. You are going to pitch your tents there. If you arrive early, you can enjoy the wonderful weather and spend time in nature with your friends. You will spend the night in your tents after dinner.
On the fourth day, you will hike from Vishkhopri to Rashi Camp. You will get at Rashi Camp, which is 8 km away, in around 4-5 hours. Because there are meadows along the entire walk, this trek is far more spectacular than others. The journey will be quite cool because you will view Batagor, some wildflowers, vibrant blooms, and much more. In addition, you’ll need to use logs to cross a stream, which is a thrilling experience in and of itself.
You will arrive at Rashi Camp shortly, where you will spend the night. It’s possible that you’ll find the breathtakingly gorgeous Manju Kanta Pass from Rashi Camp. You can relax after enjoying a delectable dinner and some quality time.
And then the day comes when you finally arrive at Maldaru Lake, your true destination. You will travel 12 km to reach Maldaru Camp from Rashi Camp in 6-7 hours. This hike must be completed carefully. It is preferable to ascend with your buddies at your side. You can apply the adage, “The most beautiful journey comes after the most difficult path,” to this situation as well.
You will have a truly unique experience on this excursion, which you will adore. You can observe a lot of Phen Kamal and Brahma Kamal (Uttarakhand’s state flower) after arriving at Maldaru Lake. These flowers are really beautiful and draw in a lot of people. Additionally, you can see glimpses of Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Bandarpoonch Peak from Maldaru Lake. The expansive view will undoubtedly leave you in disbelief for some time. Maldaru Lake’s water is so clean that you can see hints of the sky in it. You will leave Maladaru Lake and travel to Devsu Bugyal on your sixth day. Twelve kilometers separate you from it. Make sure you get up early enough to witness the breathtaking dawn over the snow-capped mountains. It’s incomparable in appearance. Your trial will start after breakfast. You will pass through gorgeous verdant fields on your walk.
This journey passes through dense woodlands. You can enjoy an amazing view of Kala Nag, also known as Black Peak, after you arrive to Devsu Bugyal. Take your pals on a tour of the area and enjoy a delicious dinner. Spend the night sleeping in your encampment.
On the seventh day, you will travel back to Taluka. Additionally, you’ll drive to Sankri Village that same day. To save them as a lifelong memory, you must have taken a lot of photos. Once you get in Sankri, you will spend the night at a hotel. Remember to return for another fantastic experience.
You will go from Sankri to Dehradun on the final journey. You’ll arrive in Dehradun on schedule. then make your way back to your houses.
There is a various mode to reach Maldaru Lake Trek:
The Jolly Grant Airport is connected to Delhi. There are day-to-day flights to Dehradun from cities like Delhi. From Jolly Grant Airport you need to reach Dehradun Railway Station (pick up point) which is 35km away.
Daily trains run from Delhi to Dehradun. Some of the recommended trains:- Nandadevi Express and Dehradun Express.
Traveling by bus is always an easy option to opt for. Buses regularly run from Delhi to Dehradun. Buses will drop you at ISBT, Dehradun from where you can reach Dehradun Railway Station which is 6 km away.
